Students With Anxiety/Learning Disabilities
With 25 years of experience in special education, an understanding of the emotional and academic balance required to facilitate learning is the key to success. With a careful and thorough approach to learning that is created based on individual strengths and needs, a student can master any concept. Sessions aim to assist in breaking down the subtasks for each assignment or skill until mastery is achieved. As students experience success due to these sessions and the support provided, their confidence and self-perception as successful learners develops, and only then can real learning take place.
Homeschooling
With an intimate knowledge of the Ministry of Ontario Curriculum, programs for all subjects are offered in small groups or for individual students. With flexibility, one subject or numerous subjects can be covered using an enriching approach that encourages exploration as deeply as possible. Intimate familiarity with the math curriculum enables a thorough and effective approach to covering the curriculum requirements. With a firm but kind approach together with highly structured and effective sessions, confidence is built through repeated success.
Reading Remedies
Challenges with reading have an impact on all learning. Direct Instruction using the Reading Mastery program is one way to ensure the development of fluent and effective reading. The earlier a reading issue is addressed, the better. If, however, issues are discovered in later grades, fluency can be improved/remediated. Consistent and proper practice together with effective programming can make all the difference across all subjects
Students who want to catch up
Students feel uncomfortable and easily overwhelmed when they feel like they are always slightly behind and never ahead of the game. The goal of tutoring sessions is to tighten skills and create a learner who is able to embrace the classroom experience, instead of floundering and scrambling to catch up and stay on track. When the foundation is strong, the potential is limitless.
